To kick off the school year, KPU has announced they will be hosting Condoleezza Rice, Ph.D, and Philip Zelikow, Ph.D, to discuss international affairs and their new book, "To Build a Better World." The event will take place in Bender Arena on September 12. It is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m., but doors will open at 11:45 a.m. The first 100 attendees will be able to get a signed copy of their book, so be sure to grab your tickets and get there early.
As the first Black woman to serve as the Secretary of State of the United States and the second woman to ever hold that office, Condoleeza Rice is well versed in international affairs. She held that ground-breaking position for four years, from 2005-2009.
Prior to that she worked under the Bush administration from 2001 to 2005 as the national security advisor and served as Provost at Stanford University from 1993-1999. Rice has held many titles throughout her years, even Senior Director of Soviet and East European Affairs.
Rice currently serves as a Professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Business where she teaches on global policy and the economy; while also teaching as a professor in political science at Stanford University. In addition to this she finds time to be a professor at the Hoover Institution, a public policy think tank at Stanford.
Condoleeza Rice is a pioneer for black women in politics. She has broken many glass ceilings and will continue to do so by serving as a board member of companies like Dropbox, The Boys and Girls Club of America, the Foundation for Excellence in Education, and the Aspen Institute. Her new book with co-author Dr. Philip Zelikow, "To Build a Better World" will join the collection of the many other books she has written and is sure to be a great addition to anyone's bookshelf.
